In a bid to bolster Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape, the Federal Government has launched the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS) under the Presidential Palliative Program. This initiative, commencing on March 9, 2024, aims to provide financial support to nano-scale businesses without any repayment obligations.
Targeting small business owners across diverse sectors including trading, food services, ICT, transportation, creatives, and artisans, the PCGS strives for inclusivity. Notably, 70% of the scheme's focus is on women and youth, with additional allocations for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and other demographics.
This concerted effort to uplift often marginalized business owners reflects the government's commitment to harnessing the full potential of Nigeria's entrepreneurial ecosystem. With a grant of N50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Naira) per beneficiary, the program is set to benefit one million small businesses spread across the 774 local government areas and six council areas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The selection process for beneficiaries was rigorous, requiring verification through National Identification Numbers (NIN) and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN). Successful applicants demonstrated the viability of their businesses, a commitment to growth, and a willingness to create employment opportunities.
Implemented by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, with the Bank of Industry serving as the Executing Agency, the PCGS underscores the government's dedication to fostering inclusive economic growth. By providing support to nano-scale entrepreneurs, this initiative is poised to catalyze tangible change in communities nationwide.
